Dublin – Hotspots

Dublin offers so many lovely restaurants and pubs that it’s hard to choose. Luckily for me, my Dublin friends recommended some wonderful places for dinner and drinks. So… thanks guys for making my inner foodie jump for joy!

The Ivy

Located inside the famous Temple Bar District lays The Ivy, a luxurious bar with Irish character. On their lunch and dinner menu you’ll find sandwiches, salads and soup, but also the traditional Irish cuisine. I chose a very tasty brioche with sautéed wild Irish mushrooms, Knockdrinna Cheese and truffle for starter. Later on I had the Achill Island Lamb Stew with root vegetables and a buttery mash, which was also very good. When you have the chance, try their homemade ‘Guiness Brown Bread’, ‘cause it’s really delicious.

The Liquor Rooms at The Clarence Hotel

How about a little nightcap? When travelling, the Hotel Manager in me loves to catch a glimpse of some of the luxury hotels in the city. For that reason we went to The Liquor Rooms of The Clarence Hotel. The fact that this hotel is owned by Bono en The Edge from U2 made me even more curious. The Liquor Rooms are located in the basement of the hotel. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve just stepped into the prohibition area. On the menu you’ll find original cocktails and beers, the better wines and champagnes and a large Whiskey and Gin selection. Cheers mates!

Rustic Stone

The Rustic Stone is located in the trendy South George Street neighbourhood. For me this restaurant was the gastronomic hit of our Dublin trip. At Rustic Stone they serve your meat or fish upon volcanic stones, so you can bake it as you please. For starter I had the tuna fillet, topped with a miso and sesame seed crust with a drizzle of langoustine oil and an apple watercress salad. I was so happy with this dish, as it was absolutely amazing! For the main course I ordered the sirloin of beef with thee peppercorn relish, which was also very tasty. Rustic Stone also has a fine wine list. As the atmosphere is very good, it’s nice to stick around for a little while and try some of the delicious wines.

Zozimus Bar

Zozimus Bar is just one of those Instagram-perfect places and one f the hotpots in Dublin. The exterior with umbrella decorations is really pretty. So make sure to have your camera ready! The bar is named in honour of Michael Moran (aka Zozimus), the balladeer and poet who in the early 19th century entertained his public in the streets of Dublin. In terms of interior, Zozimus Bar is one of the most beautiful places I have been to. Although Zozimus is a bar, they also offer a varied food menu, starting from bar bites to international classics.
